Wig’s Word of God Today 5-20-2011
He has brought to fulfillment for us, (their) children, by Raising up Jesus, as it is written in the Second Psalm, ‘You are my Son; this day I have begotten You.’ Acts 13:44
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in Me. John 14:1
Acts 13:26-33, Psalm 2 & John 14:1-6
When you place your trust in the LORD, you place your trust in His Son’s Truth by following the Word of God in each step you take by acknowledging Him in your practice, your prayer and your proclamation. Paul reminds us today that even though “the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their leaders failed to recognize Him,” they fulfilled the oracles of the prophets that were read Sabbath after Sabbath.
Jesus never lets us forget that we shouldn’t be troubled if we believe in Him for as He proclaimed “I am going to prepare a place for you” for where His going “you know the way.” Sometimes along the Way of life, we will encounter people who will come and go who helped us bring Christ back into our souls. These people help remind us that God never guides us to the future but help us be guided in the here and now. I pray I can remind people never to lose determination from looking into the eyes of Christ’s love but to keep their love and life centered on His Word, unceasing prayer and to have courage to proclaim His Truth to complete strangers making them friends for life. Yesterday I met two such people by asking God, “Who do You want me to pray with today?”
Many of you may know that I am member of the Disabled American Veteran Group of Coral Gables where I serve as Adjutant and Treasurer of Chapter 12. Once a month I drive down to Coral Gables to meet with brothers who like I served our country proudly. Yesterday, I was early so I asked the LORD where He wanted me to be in a short prayer, “Who do You want me to pray with today?” before ending up in a front parking spot along Miracle Mile in front of the Starbucks. Being weary from my day with 25 amazing kids as a teacher and early riser to study His Word, I walked in to get a cup of coffee.
The lady at the counter said “may I help you” as she stared at my Cross on my neck. She then said, “what a beautiful Cross and so unusual.” My Cross is three crucifixes in One with two smaller crucifixes attached to either side of Christ in silver representing the two thieves who died with Him on Good Friday. As I explained where this piece of jewelry came from, she began to tell me she had just prayed for someone to ease her worries of someone rude as I began to tell her how important it is to share His love with anyone, anytime and anywhere. With tears in my eyes, I proclaimed my love of loving Him and recited my poem, “You Can’t Imagine.”
As we talked amongst customers coming in and out, a young man entered with a backpack on and I guessed what grade he was in and we began to chit chat about his school of Westminster which is a Christian School here in Miami. I smiled from ear-to-ear asking, “how often do you get to pray in school?” He replied, “some teachers pray before every class, some don’t but I pray daily myself as well. I shared my belief that taking prayer out of school is what has caused so many kids in today’s world to be rude, selfish and disrespectful.
We sat down and talked about life as a young Christian and this young man opened up to me telling me he has struggled with bouts of suicide, depression and lust. He assured me he has past this phase of his life with the help of God and is an aspiring actor here in a local theatre. I explained the secret of staying One with God was to include Him into every aspect of your life by studying His Word, prayer and proclamation to family and friends alike. We then prayed together and hugged as we walked outside to leave. I parted him by saying, “Be not afraid of the secular world of flash and flair of selfish acts of greed. People will put you down for loving Him and ask you to join them but seek His Truth and He will set you free.”
So we ask in prayer: My LORD and my God, today we keep Augie Silva in prayer as he continues his road to recovery. Praying with him yesterday LORD as you know, his love of you is steadfast. Please continue to heal him. We pray today for my two new friends in Christ I met yesterday in Coral Gables. May they always seek Your Word, Your love and Your Truth to guide them and lift them into eternal happiness. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
God Bless,
