Wig’s Word of God Today 11-24-2010
Great and wonderful are Your works, Lord God almighty. Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations. Who will not fear You, Lord, or glorify Your Name? For You alone are Holy. All the nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed. Revelation 15:3-4
Revelation 15:1-4, Psalm 98:1, 2-3ab, 7-8, 9 & Luke 21:12-19
I can just hear the angels singing the song of Moses that comes from Exodus 15:1-18 where the Israelites sang after their release from oppression from Egypt. How many of you sang after your surrender to a life of Christ? I can remember the day I was “saved” because I consciously made a decision to surrender to a life of Christ. Last night, I spent a couple of hours in the prison for our monthly Ultreya follow-up meeting for Kairos. Any one of the prisoners can come to this monthly prayer meeting event and listen to a short witness and Scripture reading and then we break into groups to discuss the Scripture. Last night I was asked to witness less than 10 minutes before going before 37 searching incarcerated souls. I opened to the Book of Matthew calling on the Holy Spirit to lead me. God lead me to Chapter 9 verse 37-38 where Jesus exclaims, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” I immediately knew God was asking me to talk about the harvest because we are so close to Thanksgiving where the original Thanksgiving was to be thankful to God for the harvest.
Studying Luke 21 today rang clear last night as I talked about the prisoners need to be the “laborers” for the abundant “harvest” of souls there within their walls of confinement. I talked about their need to be diligent even they are surrounded with adversity and hate. I reminded them that being Christian wasn’t ever going to be easy especially amongst people who have experienced such lifelong heartaches and poor choices. But now they have a choice to serve God with pride allowing them to be the eyes of Christ not wavering because of the toughness in appearance on the outside of some the inmates. I said, “You may walk by a guy who has tattoos everywhere looking as mean and ugly as can be. But remember; you can’t tell what that person has on the inside. He may be as soft as a kitten with a heart looking for God to enlighten his soul. Be God’s instruments of healing grace. And even you can change their toughness into a God-fearing saved soul.” When loving your love of Christ, people will hate you, even your own family will despise you but be ever resourceful and pray for them to come to know Christ as you have.
And so we pray: Heavenly Father, I pray today for all who are incarcerated that they may find Your Son’s Truth comforting and liberating because of His Salvation of Sins. I pray for guidance to accomplish Your Will Lord. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
