Wig’s Word of God Today 11-21-2010
He is the Head of the Body, the Church. He is the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that in all things He himself might be preeminent. Colossians 1:18
2 Samuel 5:1-3, Psalm 122:1-2, 3-4, 4-5 , Colossians 1:12-20 & Luke 23:35-43
What an amazing feeling it must have been to be anointed “King of Israel.” “Here we are, your bone and your flesh,” describes all the tribes of Israel to David. “In days past, when Saul was our king, it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, ‘You shall shepherd my people Israel and shall be commander of Israel.‘” And so it was, David became King David of all of Israel and “David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years: seven years and six months in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah.” 2 Samuel 4-5 King David we learn became even more powerful because he trusted in the Lord and prayed to the Lord over everything. The bible tells us that David “inquired of the Lord” often and followed the Will of God in all things. There is no difference today in the way you conduct your life and by “inquiring of the Lord” over everything, you too will live the Will of God and be strengthened by His love.
Paul is addressing the congregation at Colossae because teachers were relating Christ to the cosmos in their order stressing angelic principalities and powers. These were connected with astral powers and cultic practices and rules about food and drink and ascetical disciplines. This practice Paul explains in his letter to the Colossians distracts from the work of Christ for Salvation and “are shadows of things to come; the reality belongs to Christ.” Colossians 2:17 Keeping us centered on the Salvation of Christ was Paul’s goal for all humanity realizing the need for mankind to focus on Christ’s death on the Cross conquering sin for all. The invisible God became flesh, “He is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn of all creation. For in Him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the Head of the Body, the Church. He is the Beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that in all things He himself might be preeminent.” Colossians 1:15-18
Luke had an understanding many scholars have argued that the destiny of all Christians is to be with Jesus. I wear a crucifix depicting three crosses with Christ in the center of the two sinners who were crucified with Jesus reminding me of this passage where Christ gives Salvation to the thief who asks Jesus for forgiveness stating, “Jesus, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom.” He replied to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Many of you may not realize that Luke’s record is the only location in the Gospel where the thieves are mentioned. It is important to remember that we are all Brothers and Sisters in Christ and it is our duty as Christians to become One in the Body of Christ. Last night I met a pastor of a local church and we talked about our love of God and what Jesus meant to Humanity for the forgiveness of sins. He said, “There will be no religion in heaven, just Glory to God.” Let us remember to focus on the goal of sharing faith, hope, charity and love to follow Jesus and become One with Him. It is not our agenda but it is sharing the Salvation of Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!
And so we pray: My Lord and My God, we continue our nine day prayer for peace and healing of Chris Santello. I pray today for Pastor Brock Shiffer. May his love of Your Son’s Truth bring many souls to Your doors in Heaven. Have mercy on me, a lowly sinner, who wants nothing more than to Glorify You in all things. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
God Bless,

Romans 8:28
By His Blood Dripping in the Dirt
Bone and flesh
Willing for the test
Of David to be king
Israel his reign
Give thanks to the Name
Higher than all the stars
Up to His House I seek
The joy of God in life’s peak
Inheritance you share
The Holy Ones do care
The Light of Truth to guide
Sins to release and confide
He is the Firstborn
Who is and was and will be
The visible and invisible
Held together for all to see
His reconciliation of sins
Humanity does share to win
The Head, the Body, the Church
By His Blood dripping in the dirt
