Wig’s Word of God Today 11-22-2010
On their lips no deceit has been found; they are unblemished. Revelation 14:5
Revelation 14:1-3, 4b-5, Psalm 24:1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6 & Luke 21:1-4
There are many items of joy to recognize here in this passage of Revelation. Mount Zion is a central location in the bible’s setting for God’s people to gather such as in; 2 Kings 19:30-31, Joel 2:32, Obadiah 1:17, Micah 4:6-8, and Zephaniah 3:12-20. In contrast to the beasts name being marked on the foreheads of pagans in Revelation 13:16-17, God’s Name and His Son’s Name are on their foreheads. While the virgins represent the first fruits because they are undefiled and did not indulge in idolatrous practices, they did not deny Christ as those do who are aligned with the Evil One seeking to destroy the Truth. When you live a life where no lies cross your lips, you are living a life filled with God’s Promise and you relish in the Truth to accomplish the Will of God.
Jesus Christ truly lived a life of poverty setting an example for His followers to endure. How many of you can say “I live a life free of material possessions?” Look around your house; trinkets, pictures, statues, clothes, shoes, etc, etc etc. The list goes on and on and on. But do we really need all this stuff? Why must we have 30 pair of pants or 100 shirts in a closet? Why must we have 5 televisions in a house? Jesus said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.” Luke 21:3-4
When you can live a life void of material possessions, you are truly showing your love of loving Christ. Parents work more in today’s society than ever before forgoing the need each child they bear needs to learn respect, honor, compassion, charity and love. Many children of today’s lack a real desire to show respect to their elders which stems from parents working too much seeking a life full of self and material possessions. Take a moment each day and turn everything off and relish your children. Tell them stories about your past or your families past. My father used to say to us kids at Christmas, “we used to get a pair of tennis shoes at Christmas and when they wore out or you grew out of them, you just went barefoot.” I remember stories my dad would tell about just having fun with friends where not a dime was spent. Times too long past but needed to be reintroduced to society today; living a life void of self focused on giving instead of taking it now. God doesn’t want us to live past our means. He wants us to live in harmony with Him seeking only to accomplish His Will of faith, hope, charity and love. What can you give to the poor today? What can you tell a child today that will teach him/her respect?
And so we pray: Dear God, we continue our nine day of prayers for peace and healing of Chris Santello. Father God, we ask You today to teach us to be a people void of self where we learn to give and expect nothing in return. We ask this in Jesus Name. Amen.
God Bless,

Romans 8:28
Her Livelihood and Honor to the Lord of Lords
Atop Mount Zion
The Lamb looks to see
How faithful ones live
How His people yearn to be
A new song is sung
For lasting love to give
Respect to all the elders
Knowledge of Truth to live
Following the Lamb everywhere
No deceit passes over their tongue
Living a life void of sin and self
Unblemished since they were young
We the people long to see Your face
Our hands are clean our heart sinless
Accomplishing Your Will O’Lord
To live a life given by Your fullness
Wealthy people give a portion of excess
A Poor Widow gives all she can afford
Christ’s explains she gave more of her self
Her livelihood and honor to the Lord of Lords
