Wig’s Word of God Today 7-2-2011
May God give to you of the dew of the heavens and of the fertility of the earth abundance of grain and wine. Genesis 27:28
Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father’s house? Luke 2:49
Genesis 27:1-5, 15-29, Psalm 135 & Luke 2:41-51
Sometimes we wonder why deception is placed in the Bible such as Rebekah’s plot with Jacob, her favorite son, to deceive her husband Isaac and thereby cheat Esau out of “The Blessing” all dying Jewish men gave their oldest son on their deathbed. The extent to which mother and son went to deceive the Father and brother required quite a charade. To make sure Jacob wasn’t discovered, Rebekah not only put the hairy skin of a baby goat on Jacob’s hands and neck, so that he would feel like Esau, but she also dressed him up in Esau’s clothes so that he would smell like Esau.
Rebekah and Jacob pulled off the bait and switch routine. It was all wasted effort, as we shall soon learn, and the only thing they accomplished was to accrue a list of sins. Rebekah, especially showed a lack of faith in God because God had already told her that the younger son, Jacob, not the firstborn Esau, would receive the birthright and “The Blessing.” But she believed that she had to give God help – just like Sarah when she used Hagar to give Abraham a child. We always get into trouble when we try to help God out by taking matters into our own hands. “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”
Many Biblical Scholars write that Jesus was a faithful little Jewish boy but at the age of 12 He began to show that His infancy stages were over and His concern began to turn to His Divine Kinship of God’s Only Son to live His Father’s Will which takes precedent over His family ties. Jesus points out later that following His Truth will pit you against your own families and friends because many will not be able to give up a life of self for an Eternal Life free of material gain.
Jesus began to do His Father’s Work even before He left His mother’s care and was obedient to His parents before taking His Ministry to the people but we learn these things to accomplish our own respect for our parents hopefully being taught the ways of the LORD so we may fulfill God’s Will as adults when we leave the care of our parents. We live a life of free will and by learning to be obedient to His Truth we naturally care for those in need when they need it to Glorify the Father in everything we do. Glorify the Father in your love of loving Christ Jesus. Amen.
So we ask in prayer, Dear God, we pray today for the deceivers of the world. May they learn Truth in Your Word to live each day. We pray for a fruitful life of Your Will. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

In Heaven Above Directing Our Love
A tangled web we can live and weave
Thinking the LORD will not be able to see
But In our mist of lies will our God revive
Our heart of Truth to abide and guide
In youth we see the family as need
As we grow in age we turn the page
To succeed in belief of our own relief
Living for Him we learn not to sin
Not to worry He’s in His Father’s House
In Heaven above directing our love
Be not afraid His Will will shade
Your eternal life in hell by a life to tell
