Whoever says he is in the Light, yet hates his brother, is still in the darkness

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-29-2010

Whoever says he is in the Light, yet hates his brother, is still in the darkness. 1 John 2:9

1 John 2:3-11, Psalm 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 5b-6 & Luke 2:22-35

If you are still hanging on to someone you hate for years and years now, you are not walking with Christ as your guide. You cannot believe in His Covenant if you are still holding on to a grudge against anyone from any point in your life. “Whoever hates his brother is in darkness; he walks in darkness and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” 1 John 2-11 The best way to keep His love in your heart I believe is to live the commandments as John reminds us, “Whoever says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4

Simeon knew the Truth had been spoken to him by the Holy Spirit as Luke revealed to us in Luke 2:26, “It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord.”  Holding on to the Truth in all circumstances in our lives allows us to live the commandments and walk in His Light living free of guilt from sin. Simeon points out to Mary that even she will have to endure the Truth spoken by her Son by his statement to His mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Luke 2:34-35 For even she would have to understand that living a life surrendered to God would have to live His teachings as the ways of true blessedness as we learn in Luke 11:27-28. “While He was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that carried You and the breasts at which You nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it.”  Be blessed and live the Word of God to show your love of loving Christ.

And so we pray: My Lord and My God, a prayer of thanksgiving for allowing me to rest a bit more than I normally do. We pray today we are always guided by the Light of Christ teaching the Love of God. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

God Bless,

If we acknowledge our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-28-2010

If we acknowledge our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing. 1 John 1:9

1 John 1:5—2:2, Psalm 124:2-3, 4-5, 7cd-8 & Matthew 2:13-18

When is the last time you sat down and thought about your sins? I know, it’s not a subject many of us like to think about but God reminds us in 1 John 1:6 , (if) “we have fellowship with him,” while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth.” It is when we acknowledge our sins and repent from them do we walk in unison with the Light of Truth. If you live your life in the Light and the Darkness, you live a double life of lies.

What you are doing when nobody is watching directly affects your relationship with God for He sees everything you do whether you acknowledge this or not. If you live by the commandments, then you live a life in the Light of Christ and pursue surrender to His faith, His hope, His charity and His love. Just as Joseph had to do with Jesus by fleeing in the night to escape the wrath of Herod, we too have to escape the darkness of sin by our deliberate action of separating ourselves from whatever causes us to sin. When you love your love of Christ, you walk in the Light of Truth separating yourself from sinful ways of darkness.

And so we pray: Dear God, we pray today for Your Light to surround us and keep us from darkness. We pray we are strong enough to say yes to Jesus allowing our life to be a model for those who seek Your Son’s Truth. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

God Bless,
Thomas Joe Cruz-Wiggins

for the Life was made visible; we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the Eternal Life that was with the Father

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-27-2010

“for the Life was made visible; we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the Eternal Life that was with the Father” 1 John 1:2

1 John 1:1-4, Psalm 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12 & John 20:1a and 2-8

What are you doing, when no one is watching?” The words of the song Pure Bride by Leeland ring in my ears as I sit and ponder the weekend’s travels serving the Lord with zealous joy establishing a vessel in which my father, my mother, my brother, my first cousin and many others to see the “Visible Life” I testify to and proclaim for the Eternal Life with the Father. I was truly embraced by how the Spirit moved my father to share hidden emotions that seemed bottled up for 73 years. My entire family flashed before my soul and I was reminded of what amazing lives both sides of my family have lived in the Lord. I remember so many times my Grandma Carter sharing the Lord with me teaching me the Lord’s Prayer. My dad’s parents “Red and Annie Wiggins” were share croppers in Jesup, Georgia living in an old Southern-style Cracker House on stilts with chickens running under the house and sounds and smells of a working farm lingering in the air. These people were hard-working Jesus loving “Country Folk” who studied their Bible every day and lived a life of Christ in complete poverty in a home with no running water.

I experienced these things as I was about to begin my first ever sermon at my cousin’s non-denominational church named Eagle Vision Ministries. A sermon about unity from Ephesians 4 and cultivation after repentance from Luke 13. I’ve spoken in front of countless people but I’ve never specifically taught about Unity, Repentance and Cultivation. We must share what came to life for our Salvation where the visible areas of our life mirror the invisible Spirit dwelling from one family to the next. My father’s joy displayed yesterday was an unexpected pleasure in Christ Himself testifying to the Truth exuding from his heart. The people I met and hugged are God-fearing Jesus loving Christians who teach the Word of God to their children each and every day. The “Good News” unites all people in loving their love of Christ to accomplish faith, hope, charity and love.

And so we pray: My Lord and My God, a prayer of Thanksgiving for safe travels. We pray today we are visible signs of Your Son’s Truth living a life of complete surrender to Your Will for Your Glory. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-26-2010

And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. Colossians 3:14

Sirach 3:2-6, 12-14, Psalm 128:1-2, 3, 4-5, Colossians 3:12-21 & Matthew 2:13-15, 19-23

How do you feel when you pray? Do you feel God is hearing you? I’ve been praying about something I’ve never done but I’ve been excited about it for two months; preaching my first Sermon or Homily if you will. My cousin Cindy owns a Non-Denomination Church in Jesup, Georgia and “Wig” is off to preach his first sermon. Unity of the Church is my subject and I feel honored to be asked to share the Lord’s Gospel. Please pray for me today as I reach out with His Mighty Arm and share my love of loving His Son.

Colossians 3 speaks of such need in every society of the world, “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 3:12-17 Are you teaching the wisdom of God in your practice, prayer and preaching?

And so we pray: Heavenly Father, I pray today Your Will takes over my Spirit and I become one in You Father as I share Your Son’s Truth. Be my voice, be my movement and be my smile. Protect us on our drive home to South Florida. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

And the Word became Flesh and made His dwelling among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and Truth

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-25-2010

And the Word became Flesh and made His dwelling among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and Truth. John 1:14

Isaiah 52:7-10, Psalm 98:1, 2-3, 3-4, 5-6, Hebrews 1:1-6 & John 1:1-18

Merry Christmas! I wake up today in chilly (29*) Jesup, Georgia where I begin a day of seeing my family come together for Christmas for the first time in 30 or so years. My mom, dad, little brother and big sister will all spend Christmas together being thankful for family and love. With a Red Velvet Christmas cake in tow, tonight my family will be having just short of a family reunion at my mom’s first cousin’s house. I pray everyone’s Christmas Day is filled with joy from reading your Bible with your family, praying together as a family and proclaiming the Good News to one another as a family in the Glory of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

And so we pray: My Lord and My God, we pray in confidence to always be protected by You and to live Your Will in every breath we take. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for He has visited and brought redemption to His people

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-24-2010

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for He has visited and brought redemption to His people. Luke 1:68

 2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16 , Psalm 89:2-3, 4-5, 27 and 29 & Luke 1:67-79

Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, delivering his praise to God after naming his boy John and becoming able to speak for the first time in months. This Christmas season, let’s use more than our words to show our faith; let’s visit the elderly. This Christmas season let’s use more than our words to show our hope; let’s pick up trash in your neighborhood. This Christmas season, let’s use more than our words to show our charity; let’s bake a cake for your neighbor. This Christmas season, let’s use more than words to show our love of Christ Jesus; let’s keep Christ in Christmas by saying, “Merry Christmas” often to anyone you meet. In loving your love of Christ we use our action to accomplish more than just words, we bring about our action for the Glory of the Lord. Amen.

And so we pray: Dear God, we pray today for personal intentions of healing for Chris Santello. I’m praying for Jhaysonn in Gainesville, for a healthy New Year! I’m praying for my family as we drive to Georgia for Your Son’s birthday Lord. I’m praying over everything Lord so I may accomplish Your Will in everything I do. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Relieve the troubles of my heart; bring me out of my distress

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-23-2010

Relieve the troubles of my heart; bring me out of my distress. Psalm 25:17

 Malachi 3:1-4, 23-24, Psalm 25:4-5ab, 8-9, 10 and 14 & Luke 1:57-66

What type of troubles are aching your heart? These types of troubles penetrate the Armor of God and into the depths of your soul. Where disappointment and fear meet the desires of your heart while you call out to God in your distress. Belief or unbelief you can control embarrassed feelings comes only from the source of the experience. Zechariah had these troubles penetrate his soul by his disbelief Elizabeth would bear a son but at the appropriate time, Zechariah’s belief brought him out of his distress as John the Baptist was born. The Angel Gabriel told Zechariah, “Do not be afraid” when he learned the news from God he would have a son to convert many souls to God in Israel. We too must learn to remain unafraid in our practice, prayer and preaching seeking forgiveness when troubled and giving forgiveness when crossed. Loving your love of Christ allows for mistakes to be forgiven and forgiveness shared to all.

And so we pray: Dear God, I am sorry for having offended thee and I detest all my sins. I am sorry to react with disappointment when I should be thankful for each and every blessing You bestow on me. Guide my troubled heart Lord and lead me out of my distress. Bless my family with Your love and safe keeping. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is His name

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-22-2010

For He has looked upon His handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is His name. Luke 1: 48-49

 1 Samuel 1:24-28, 1 Samuel 2:1, 4-5, 6-7, 8abcd & Luke 1:46-56

Mary’s visitation to her cousin Elizabeth’s continues with Mary sharing her soul in the passionate canticle known as the “Magnificat.” And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior.” Luke 1:47-46 Once again the lowly are lifted to heights only granted by God and the beginning of a prayer that would become a faithful daily occurrence for countless people each and every day; “The Rosary,” is born (so to speak). The Mother of our Lord gave birth to a prayer from her uttering the words, ” from now on will all ages call me blessed.” Many people miss understand why “people” not just Catholics “pray” the Rosary. The prayer is now prayed by Protestants too and I recently learned from a rosary-praying protestant he traveled to Medjugorje to pray the rosary there at a known location for “Marian Visions.”

Whether you pray the Rosary or not, I respect each and every one of your decisions to pray in the way you feel your Lord and Savior deserves. The Rosary is a prayer of comfort, peace and Glory to God allowing a reawakening of the soul to listen to His Will and share your concerns with God for healing, guidance and protection. Whatever your prayer preference is, the purpose of all prayer is to praise and Glorify the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and Rosary praying people do this and much, much more. So the next time you see a Rosary hanging from a rear-view mirror or see someone praying the Rosary, know the beads and Cross represent the Glorification of God in all things. The Rosary has an amazing history and one worth researching to learn more why so many people pray this historical psalm of love to God.

And so we pray: Dear Father, we pray today in thanksgiving for allowing people to understand a prayer of the one You chose to carry Your Son. Give humanity Your guidance to celebrate all prayers to You Father for the Glorification of all good things that come from You. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-21-2010

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. Luke 1:45

Zephaniah 3:14-18a, Psalm 33:2-3, 11-12, 20-21 & Luke 1:39-45

Mary’s cousin Elizabeth speaking the words of surrender to our Lord by Mary who had accepted the call of carrying the Son of God. All of us have a calling to accomplish in this life for God allowing our free will to accept or deny this calling. Sit back and look around this Christmas for the things the Lord is calling you do. Can you deliver Christmas presents to a father-less child? Can you bake a pie and take it to your neighbor warm from the oven? Can you share a meal with a homeless person? What is God calling you to believe you can do for your family, your co-workers and your community. “Blessed are you who believed “loving your love of Christ can make a difference in the world this Christmas.

And so we pray: Heavenly Father, we pray today for peace, for those who lose a loved one this Christmas and for the world to surrender to Your Will. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you. Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

Wig’s Word of God Today 12-20-2010

“Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” Luke 1:28 & 30

Isaiah 7:10-14,Psalm 24:1-2, 3-4ab, 5-6 & Luke 1:26-38

The One Who created it all found favor with a devout virgin in what seems a land so far away. Such an honor to be chosen by Him to help accomplish Redemption for the world. I read every Bible passage I put up several times to locate, listen and learn what God is calling me to accomplish in His Will. I was reading through Psalm 24 and found yet more evidence of God’s wonder in a verse I somehow wrote the song for yesterday the Spirit lead me to write before reading it. “The earth is the LORD’S and all it holds, the world and those who live there. For God founded it on the seas, established it over the rivers.” Psalm 24:1-2 “Shinning bright along the rivers, shinning bright along the sea, Christ’s everlasting properties, rejoice in all humanity.” A day of rejoicing when we welcome His Birth celebrating a life of Redemption for all mankind. “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you. Do not be afraid.”  Rejoice in loving your love of Emmanuel by practice, prayer and proclamation.

And so we pray: Dear God, we pray today for those who are lonely and scared. May Your love give them comfort and companionship. We pray today for the homeless, the sick and dying and all those affected by abortion. We pray for all those who asked us to pray for them and all we said we’d pray for. We pray for peace. We pray You Lord show us Your Will. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
